Yaskawa Launches “LA700” AC Drive for Elevator Application – To improve elevator ride comfort, reliability and maintainability –

Yaskawa Electric Corporation (Head Office: Kita-Kyushu, Fukuoka, Japan; Representative Director, President: Masahiro Ogawa) launches the LA700 drive (specified model for elevators) on Monday, December 2, 2024 for Japanese market, in order to address various challenges and customer needs regarding elevator inverters, which provides easier adjustment and improves elevator ride comfort.

(Released in the European market in December 2023 China market in October 2024.)

1. The Aim of LA700

Yaskawa has launched the GA700 (high-performance type) in 2015 and the GA500 (Versatile Compact Type) in 2019, based on the concepts of “Versatility,” “Easy of use,” and “Reliability.” These products achieved highly efficient motor control by minimizing motor current, cost reductions in systems that incorporate peripheral devices, sensing technology that detects abnormalities in real time to keep machinery running, and efficient production management through IoT compatibility, and have received positive feedback from many customers. In addition, we are also developing dedicated products for specific applications, including the CR700 (specified model for crane) based on the general-purpose drives GA700 and GA500.

Yaskawa has launched the LA700 (specified model for elevators) as a new dedicated product. Adjusting elevator drives requires highly technical skills, from auto-tuning to fine tuning. The LA700 has improved basic performance such as auto-tuning from the previous model L1000A, and the initial setup has been made easier with an interactive setup wizard for elevators. In addition, it has improved the ease of use for customers by utilizing the support tool (DriveWizard) and incorporating an adjustment monitoring function via Bluetooth, thereby shortening the setup and test run time. Furthermore, the elevator can accelerate and decelerate more smoothly than previous models, further improving the comfort of the elevator. A wide range of product capacity lineup can be applied to many elevators.

2. Product Positioning of LA700

Yaskawa develops specified types for major applications based on its general-purpose products. CR700 (specified model for crane), FP605 (specified model for fan and pump), and HV600 (specified model for HVAC) have already been released and have been well received from customers. Now, LA700 (specified model for elevator) has been added to the lineup for elevator applications.

* LA700 (specified model for elevator) is the replacement model to the conventional model L1000A.

3. Key Features

LA700 offers significantly more specialized elevator functions and performance than the conventional L1000A.

(1) Performance Exclusively for Elevators

Anti-rollback performance has been improved, and adjustments have been made easier by optimizing, which reduces the shock when the holding brake is released without a load sensor.
Auto-tuning is possible even with the rope still on the sheave. Troublesome adjustments to the encoder and motor rotation can now be easily made using navigation.
Peripheral devices such as batteries required to enable rescue operations due to a power outage, etc., are minimized. This makes it easier to obtain safety standards for elevator equipment.
It is equipped with standby mode, which helps to reduce power consumption during standby with confidence.

(2) Secure Basic Functions and Specifications

By 1/2 the control cycle time compared to conventional products, torque ripple
(fluctuation in the torque output while the motor is rotating) is reduced and get smoother acceleration and deceleration. This ensures a smooth elevator ride.
The support tool (DriveWizard) reduces setup and trial run time. The oscilloscope function of DriveWizard eliminates the need for measurements equipment during setup and maintenance.
The Bluetooth-enabled keypad allows parameter setting and monitoring by wireless connection.
DC reactors and braking transistors are built in as standard, contributing to a reduction in the need for peripheral equipment.
